The Mission of the International Baccalaureate
The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.
These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
The Mission of Travis Science Academy
Travis Science Academy strives for excellence by implementing a challenging curriculum of international education that fosters the academic, social, and emotional growth of a diverse school community, developing active, compassionate, lifelong learners.
This mission is accomplished through embracing the philosophy of the International Baccalarueate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP).
Overview of Middle Years Programme
Holistic learning, intercultural awareness, and communication are all fundamental concepts exemplified in the International Baccalaureate Learner Profile.
Holistic learning represents the concept that all knowledge is interrelated and that the curriculum should cater to the development of the whole person. Holistic learning promotes the development of the total person--academically, artistically, physically, socially, emotionally, and ethically.
Intercultural awareness represents the concept that school communities should encourage and promote international-mindedness by engaging with and exploring other cultures.
Communication represents the concept that schools should encourage open and effective exchange of ideas both in verbal and nonverbal formats. Language is integral to personal development, cultural identity, and intercultural understanding.
