Some Travis Science Academy students spent their spring break not lounging in the sun, but looking into their future. Thirty 8th Graders, along with Travis teachers Brian Durham and Chad Manns, visited the Challenger Learning Center at Texas State Technical College in Waco and performed a mission to design, navigate, and send a probe into a comet to test its composition. Students had to work together to solve problems and communicate effectively in order to be successful. Afterwards students had the opportunity to participate in a planetarium and then travel to Waco for a short tour of the Baylor University campus and a discussion with a Baylor biochemistry professor on careers in science.
