The Travis Science Academy MathCounts team took first place in Regional Competition Saturday at Baylor University in Waco. The winning team, consisting of 8th grade students Rayhaan Ahmed, Elli Abel, Shri Ramanathan, and 7th grader Conton Rankin, will face state competition on March 24th and 25th.
Alternates on the team included 8th grader Marc Wong, and 7th graders Sara Dekander and Samuel Lee.
In Individual competition, Travis took the top three spots with Ahmed taking third, Rankin placing second, and Abel grabbing 1st place. Rankin also place first in Countdown round competition at the event
The team is coached by Mr. Daniel Becker.
