Mustangs get two legs up!

Travis Science Academy students visited with Trevor Bergman, Executive Director for LIMBS International, a non-profit organization based in El Paso, on Thursday, October 13th, to present a check to help fund the group's mission to donate artificial legs to people in need around the world. Mr. Bergman talked with 7th Grade students from Ms. Hillary Salazar's class about the organizations mission, and explained how their fund-raising would help impact people's lives.

The students were part of the 6th Grade class that won the annual Middle Years Programme Penny War last spring. Students raised the funds for LIMBS International, allowing the company to donate two artificial legs. Travis Science Academy works through the MYP to engage students in global learning. The school works with local and national companies to increase student awareness to global issues.

Mr. Bergman said that LIMBS will share information about the individuals who received their artificial legs with the school.
