MYP in Action

In math class they used scale factor to draw and then build their biomes using straws, pipe cleaners, and saran wrap.  The students then took their biomes to science class where they then studied specific times of biomes and what types of animals and plants live in those biomes. They then selected their own biome and created the types of animals or plants that would live in that biome.

Rachel Calhoun and Brian Durham, Science teachers at Travis Science Academy, had this to say about the interdisciplinary unit.  “Students are applying their knowledge, to construct biomes and determine how organisms adapt to their environment.”
