Travis Science Academy was well represented on the winner's podium at the Jr. VASE Art competition on Saturday at Midway Middle School in Waco.
According to Art teacher Kimberly Demaree, nine Travis students \competed at annual competition. Judge evaluated the student's artwork based on technique, aesthetics, and personal expression.
Seven Travis students received a bronze medal for a rating 4, which is the highest rating, also one student received a 3 and another received a 2. Those who received a rating 4 qualified for Area Silver Medals, which is equivalent to going to State at the high school level of the competition.
One student from Travis, Emily Quinn, earned an Area Silver Medal for her artwork. Travis Science Academy was the only Temple ISD student to earn an Area Silver Medal.
